Zakia Zada (Women Gateway)

Who will be better than women in saving environment? Therefore Bahrain has chose Zakia Zada as Bahrain Advisor to the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (Globe) programme.
She told Women Gateway that her success story as advisor to the programme comes with the environment-bonding nature of women. Before her post as advisor, Zakiya dedicated her life for the protection of environment.

Globe is a hands on international environmental science and educational programme. It links students, teachers and the scientific- research community in an effort to learn more about the environment through student data and observation. Students, aged five to 18, in schools worldwide conduct a continuing programmes of scientifically meaningful environmental measurements.

Globe students transmit their data to a central data-processing facility via the Internet, receive vivid images composed of their data and data from other Globe schools around the world, acquiring information from a variety of sources and collaborating with scientists and communities worldwide in using these data for education and research. Globe goals are to enhance the environmental awareness of individuals throughout the world, contributing to scientific understanding of the earth, encouraging students to self-learn and get involved in various stages in scientific research and helping them to reach higher levels of achievement in mathematics, English and in the use of a computer.

“I love the programme as it promotes self learning approach among students as well as links with the outside world,” she said while highlighting the success of the programme in creating better nature-loving generations
Discussing the fact that she is an Arab lady who is heading a global programme, Zakiya said that people, particularly women and their connections to environment had remove all boundaries as all focus on achieving their goals rather than there differences.
