Joint-business project between Bahrain and India will be the focus of a two-day official visit by Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa this month.
The Indian Ambassador Balkrishna Shetty said that the visit to take place on October 15 and 16 would include meetings with leading Indian businessmen to discuss mechanisms to further enhance economic ties. He said that it might pave way for the establishment of more joint ventures between Bahrain and India.
Bahrain has been boosting ties with Asian countries, mainly India to benefit from its economic development experience, through enhancing trade exchange and joint business projects as well as labour cooperation.
During his first visit, the Crown Prince discussed the Indian initiatives to move the bilateral relationship beyond oil and gas to downstream investments and initiatives in the field of information technology and pharmaceuticals. The visit also discussed the labour rights of Indian workers in Bahrain.
“Indian businessmen are keen to invest in Bahrain because of its open economy, advanced and flexible legislations and friendly and supportive government and people,” Shetty said while highlighting that the visit would also explore possibilities of Bahrainis forming their businesses in India.
“In the last 17 years, India has opened up to encourage foreign investors to establish their businesses there and leading businessmen here should benefit from such facilities,” the ambassador said.
